Shadow Form farmers
Obsidian Flesh farmers
600/Smite farmers
600/Famine farmers

55 is hardly the only, or even most effective farming build. Even without regen skills like Healing Breeze or Mystic Regen, a 55 can farm areas with no degen. Shield of Absorption and Shielding Hands work for that.

I think his full quote was something along the lines of believing that Protective Spirit is the most overpowered skill in the game, and that it functions in a way completely and fundamentally different from any other skill, but if he were to nerf it, it would change the meta so much that GW might not recover. If they wanted to kill the farming build they'd make the clause "10% max health or 50...24...19 damage". Simple fix, the biggest problem they'd have would probably be clear wording.

My opinion:

Take out the first number from every skill on every skill bar.

Example:

"You heal this person for 150hp"

Take out the 1, and it's 50! ;o

And do this for health, energy, recharge time, everything. xD

Killing the 55 build wouldn't stop farming. It would just shift farming onto other character types. 55 is balanced in that each class has a way of solo farming - to remove it would just annoy people without having a real effect.

I wouldn´t change the meta at all, but without PS they would really need to spend some time to figure out the effect of skills, especially the max damage and healing. It just makes "balancing" need less work.

Anyone claiming that 55hp cant solo areas with enchant strippers/degen/interrupts needs to go back two years and find some legendary "Ubermancer" threads.

That was awesome stuff was possible with prophecies-only skills.

Aside from the Prot Bond nerf 2 years ago, ArenaNet has done nothing to that borderline abusive farming technique.

Yes, because the following class options do not have a way to SOLO ecto farming, and the 55 requires a partner.

I may have forgotten a few, as I don't solo any of it. But the idea that 55s farming ecto is what makes the ecto price what it is..... its just wrong.

All of these professions can now solo parts of UW, you are correct. But sadly, back in the day, hundreds of bots farmed UW with 55 monks, with no worries. There was no enchant removal or anything to worry about. They would just sit back and rake the ectos in.

So, again, you are correct in that all of these professions can solo, but before these existed, bot 55s flooded the market.
